8vo. Illustrated by Burt Silverman. (Some light spotting.) Original brown morocco gilt, raised bands, all edges gilt, red silk moiré endpapers (a tiny spot of rubbing near spine ends).

LIMITED EDITION. SIGNED BY BALDWIN on inserted front leaf with laid-in tissue, as issued. Includes a previously unpublished introduction by the author. First published in 1953, this was Baldwin's first semi-autobiographical novel focusing on the role of the Pentecostal Church in African-American communities.
